Deeper Study launched from Luke9:21-27
By Marc Engelhardt
This week we talked about Life in the cross and what that means.
The scripture we talked about was Luke 9:21-27.
While in the Life in the cross often entails denying oneself it is actually about hope and purpose. To live life in the cross is understand that sin infiltrates everything in our world. It is to understand that Jesus did pursue his divinity in this world but gave his life on the cross to fulfill the will of the Father, which then results in Jesus’ resurrection. Life in the cross is to trust in Jesus and cling to his death and resurrection to redeem us from our sin. Thus the hope of life in the cross.
But it also gives us purpose. In the cross we no longer serve our sinful desires but serve the will of the Father. Galatians 5:24 ” And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.” Which means living in this sinful world and denying our sinful desires and dealing with the consequences of sin on a daily basis until Jesus returns and removes sin once and for all.
What are some ways that you live life in the cross on a daily basis?
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank you for the love of your plan, please help me everyday to follow your ways. We pray this in the name of the crucified and risen Savior, Jesus. Amen.
