Light burden? Matthew 11:28-30
By Marcus L.
Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
While Christ carried the sin of the world onto the cross, a burden beyond our measure, he says that his yoke for us is easy and his burden light. Aren’t the laws of Christ constraining and hard to follow? How then can his yoke be easy and light?
It is because when we take the yoke of Christ we no longer carry our own burdens, because he has already carried them for us. Christ carried what we could not, and when we walk with him, we truly find a yoke that is easy and burden that is light.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank you for your Son Jesus, who bore the sins of the world on the cross. Help us to walk every closer to him, that we might find freedom from our sin. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
